The Locke & Key Society and Lambda Pi Eta student organizations will host a Presidential Debate Watch on Monday, Oct. 22, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:45 p.m. in Copeland Hall, Room 142. After watching the third Presidential Debate, which is set to take place in Boca Raton, Fla., at Lynn University with Bob Schieffer, host of “Face the Nation” on CBS, as the moderator, there will be a Q&A session

According to Dr. Dennis Potthoff, coordinator of the American Democracy Project at UNK, the purpose of the event is to help viewers learn more about the candidates’ positions, so that they can be better informed when they vote.

The debate will focus on foreign policy and be divided into six time segments of approximately 15 minutes each on topics to be selected by the moderator. Schieffer will open each segment with a question, after which each candidate will have two minutes to respond.

Lambda Pi Eta is communication honor society, and Locke and Key Society is a political science organization.
